Pictorial (Maison Carousel)

A strategic exploration of how the meaning and function of home is being reconfigured under multiple global drivers of change and its implications for future urban living.

Across Europe, rising temperatures and sea levels, housing unaffordability, short-term rental pressure and increasing mobility destabilise the idea of home as a stable anchor. Financialization, legal precarities and social fragmentation shift home from a basis of existence toward a commodity, weakening its role as retreat, belonging and safety space.

This pictorial is a companion format to the foresight work: instead of presenting scenarios as linear text, it stages them as interiors. Each “room” curates one scenario, allowing futures of home to be browsed, compared and felt spatially.

Pictorial: Maison Carousel

A small printed object that extends the foresight project: each “room” hosts a different scenario, turning future housing conditions into a spatial, browsable sequence.

The pictorial is designed as a companion to the strategic foresight project Home under Conditions of Uncertainty. Rather than presenting scenarios as linear text, it stages them as interiors: intimate, curated, and comparable — room by room.
